Getting started

Everything a new owner needs to get JobTill running: from starting your free trial to sending your first invoice. Most people finish the setup in one sitting.

How to start your free trial

  1. Go to app.jobtill.com/signup, or pick a plan on the pricing page.
  2. Fill in Your name, Company name, Work email and a Password of at least 8 characters.
  3. Tick the box to agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  4. Click Start free trial. The button shows the plan you picked, for example Start Team free trial.
  5. If you see Check your email, open the verification link we sent you. Otherwise you go straight into JobTill.

Your trial lasts 14 days. Nothing is charged today, and you don't need a card to start. You choose how to pay when the trial ends.

How to finish the setup wizard

The first time you sign in, JobTill opens the setup wizard. It has nine steps. Use Continue and Back at the bottom, or click any step in the list on the left to jump to it.

  1. Company Basics: enter your company name and short name. Tagline, phone, website, billing email and quotes email are optional. Replies to invoices go to the billing email, and replies to quotes go to the quotes email.
  2. Branding: pick your colours under Brand Palette, then upload your logo with Upload (PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG). If you skip the logo, your initials are used on documents for now.
  3. Business Type: choose your industry under Select Your Vertical. This is the one step you can't skip, because it decides your starter services, checklists and tools.
  4. Starter Services: tick the services you sell. You can edit prices and add more later.
  5. Module Defaults: choose which tools to switch on to begin with, such as Recurring Services, Monthly Billing, Add-Ons & Upsells, Job Checklists and Photo Evidence. You can change these any time.
  6. Quotes & Invoices: set your Default Tax Rate, Payment Terms (days) and the default message on your invoices.
  7. Pricing Setup: optionally set a default trip fee, hourly rate and material markup.
  8. Starter Checklists: pick the checklists your crew will follow on the job.
  9. Review & Launch: check the summary, then click Launch workspace.

Good to know

  • Running the wizard again never deletes anything. If you switch industry later, it adds the new starter items and only offers to remove old starter items you never used.
  • You can reopen it from Settings → Setup Wizard.
  • Nothing in the wizard is saved until you click Launch workspace on the last step. To change one thing later, such as your hourly rate, use Settings → Company instead: the Default Hourly Rate section has its own Save Rate button.

How to add your logo and business details

  1. In the left menu, click Settings, then Company.
  2. Under Branding, check your company name, Business phone and Website URL. The business phone prints on your invoices and other customer documents.
  3. Under Logo, click Upload logo (or Replace to change it). Use a PNG or JPG: logos in SVG format don't show in emails or PDFs, so customers would see your company name instead.
  4. Pick an Invoice style: Clean, Bold or Showcase. Click Preview a sample invoice to see how it looks with your colours.
  5. Under Emails, check your billing email, quotes email and Time zone.
  6. Click Save Settings at the bottom of the page.

How to invite your team

  1. In the left menu, click Employees.
  2. Click Invite to open Invite New Employee.
  3. Choose Send invite email (they set their own password) or Set password now (you create the account and give them the password yourself).
  4. Enter their full name and email, then click Send Invite or Create Account.
  5. New people join as Employee (crew). To give someone office access, find them in the Active list and click the Employee button next to their name to switch it to Admin.

Good to know

  • Your plan covers a number of users. An invite that hasn't been accepted yet still counts as a user. If you're at your limit, JobTill tells you which plan to move to. See Plan & billing.
  • Crews use the JobTill field app in their phone's web browser. They can add it to their home screen so it opens like an app.

How to connect Stripe so customers can pay online

JobTill takes card and bank payments through your own Stripe account. Money goes to your Stripe account, and you pay Stripe's standard processing rate. JobTill adds nothing on top.

  1. Go to Settings → Company and scroll to Payment Collection.
  2. Click Connect with Stripe. Stripe opens and asks for your business and bank details.
  3. When you finish, you come back to JobTill. If the status still says Pending Setup, click Refresh Stripe Status. If you left Stripe early, click Continue Stripe Setup.
  4. When the status shows Active, your invoice emails include a Pay Now link.

To change bank details or see payouts later, click Manage Stripe Account in the same section.

How to install JobTill on a Windows computer

JobTill is in the Microsoft Store for Windows. It opens JobTill in its own window, with the same screens you use in the browser.

  1. Open the JobTill page in the Microsoft Store, or open the Microsoft Store app and search for JobTill.
  2. Click Get (it may say Install).
  3. Open JobTill from the Start menu.
  4. Sign in with your JobTill email and password.

Good to know

  • The Windows app needs an internet connection, the same as JobTill in your browser.
  • It is listed in the Microsoft Store in the United States.

Your first week

A simple path to your first paid invoice:

  1. Add your clients. Add them one by one with New Client on the Clients page, or bring a list over with Import CSV. You can upload a file exported from Jobber or Housecall Pro, or your own spreadsheet. Nothing is saved until you confirm the last step.
  2. Send a quote from a new job, or have your client sign it on the spot.
  3. Schedule the job and assign your crew.
  4. Do the work. Your crew clocks in, works through the checklist, takes the photos and completes the job.
  5. Send the invoice and get paid by card or bank transfer through Stripe.

For regular customers, set up a recurring contract so their visits appear on the schedule each month.
