Office cleaning checklist: daily, weekly and monthly tasks
An office cleaning checklist turns "clean the office" into a list your crew can follow and your client can check. Here are the tasks area by area, split into daily, weekly and monthly, how to use the list with your crew and for inspections, and a free printable version.
How to use this checklist
The frequencies below are a common starting point for an office cleaned most weeknights. They are an example, not a standard. Your contract with each client sets the real schedule. A small office cleaned twice a week folds the "daily" tasks into each visit, and a busy one may need some weekly tasks more often.
Whatever you settle on, write the same list into the contract, the proposal and your crew's checklist, so everyone works from one version.
Entry and reception
| How often | Tasks |

| Weekly | Dust chairs, side tables and display shelves. Wipe interior glass and partitions. Spot-clean marks on walls and doors. |
| Monthly | Dust high areas: vents, ledges, tops of frames. Wipe baseboards. Vacuum upholstered seating. |

What's usually not in a regular office clean
Interior and exterior windows, carpet extraction, hard-floor stripping and refinishing, upholstery cleaning, fridge clean-outs and cleanup after events are usually quoted separately. Name them in the contract as not included, so they can be sold as extras instead of done for free. See what to put in a commercial cleaning contract.
Using the checklist with your crew
- One list per site, in the order the crew walks the building, so nothing gets skipped on the way out.
- Mark the items clients notice first: restrooms, entry glass, trash and the break room. Ask for a photo of those when the visit is done.
- Initials and a date at the end of each visit, so you know who cleaned what.
- New cleaners shadow with the list for their first few visits.
- Review it with the crew once a month: what's taking longer than planned, and what keeps getting missed.
Using it for inspections
The checklist says what should be done. An inspection checks how well it was done. Use the same areas in both, so every finding points straight to a line on the crew's list. Our janitorial inspection checklist covers what to check, a simple rating scale and how to run monthly checks, and there's a printable inspection sheet to go with it.
Adjusting for the building
Medical offices, labs, food areas and childcare spaces often have extra cleaning rules. Ask the client which apply before you price the job, and get them in writing. Add those tasks to the list for that site only.
How JobTill helps
- Photo proof on the checklist: photos go on the job, attached to the checklist item they prove.
- Required photos: your crew can't close the job until every required photo is in.
- Site inspections: run site inspections with a checklist, photos for every finding, and a report at the end. Your client sees the inspection report in their portal.
